This Koville mortar and pestle is made from natural marble with a honed finish that feels softly matte and grounded in the hand. Use it to crush whole spices, work garlic and ginger into a paste, or bring fresh herbs together for pesto, salsa and marinades.
Two ways to choose your piece
Select the working size that suits your kitchen: 130 mm for small seasoning blends, 160 mm or 178 mm for everyday family cooking, and 203 mm for larger batches. Then choose the stone character you are drawn to: light, expressive Namib Fantasy, veined Grigio Fantasy, or richly varied Indian Green.
Natural stone, individual character
Marble is a natural material. Veining, mineral marks and shade variation are part of the character of each piece, not defects. Product images show the overall stone family; the exact pattern of your mortar and pestle will vary.
Made to be used, made to stay out
The substantial stone body sits steadily while you prepare ingredients, while the honed finish gives the piece a calm, tactile presence on the countertop. It works just as naturally at the table with a freshly ground spice blend as it does during dinner prep.
Care
Hand wash with mild soap when needed, rinse promptly and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. Do not soak for long periods or use harsh, acidic or abrasive cleaners. Avoid leaving strongly coloured or oily ingredients on the stone for extended periods.
